Clinch Valley Health Names 2018 Mercy Award Winner
May 14, 2018
RICHLANDS, Virginia (May 10, 2018) – Clinch Valley Health recently announced that Rachel McGlothlin has been recognized as the hospital’s 2018 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.
“At Clinch Valley Health, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees both on and off the job,” said Peter Mulkey, CEO of Clinch Valley Health. “We are extremely proud to recognize Rachel for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”
Rachel McGlothlin is the marketing and public relations coordinator at Clinch Valley Health. McGlothlin revived the free Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Richlands, Virginia in 2017 and played a major role in getting people to come together to ensure that the Richlands area elementary school students each had a hat and a pair of gloves donated to them for the winter. McGlothlin not only impacts her friends, neighbors, and co-workers, but she impacts a worldwide audience through her blog and Lifestyle YouTube channel. She could be referred to as a modern day “Dear Abby” where her social media platforms tackle subjects from living tiny to financial management. Through this platform, Rachel provides her readers and viewers a mechanism to manage their own life’s dilemma. McGlothlin says, “the more vulnerable you are; the more opportunity you have to impact others.” Her zest for life and passion for helping others earned McGlothlin the 2018 Mercy Award at Clinch Valley Health.
Each hospital winner, including McGlothlin, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2018 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced this summer and will be honored at a special celebration in Nashville, Tenn., in August, along with all other hospital winners.
