Clinch Valley Health Partners to Support Southwest Virginia Community College’s New Athletic Programs

Clinch Valley Health partners with Southwest Virginia Community College providing resources for a full-time athletic trainer to support the college’s new athletic program and student athletes, furthering its mission of Making Communities Healthier.
“We are excited to support Southwest Virginia Community College in developing its athletic programs,” said Peter Mulkey, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Clinch Valley Health. “The college’s athletic programs align with our Mission of Making Communities Healthier giving us the opportunity to support more than 200 new student athletes coming into our community.”
Southwest Virginia Community College will launch its new sports programs in fall 2019 which includes wrestling, basketball, softball, baseball, volleyball, golf, tennis, cross country, soccer, fishing, rifles, archery, cheer, and dance. Under the leadership of Athletic Director, Jason Vencill, the college is part of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
“Clinch Valley Medical Center has been a friend and supporter of SWCC for many years and we are honored and appreciative that Dr. Mulkey and the CVMC team has once again joined forces with SWCC to help support our student athletes,” said Dr. Tommy Wright, President of SWCC.
Jason Vencill, Athletic Director for SWCC added, “On behalf of the SWCC athletic department, I would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to Clinch Valley Health. This sponsorship will allow us to provide a safe game day and practice experience for our student athletes that is so meaningful and important.”
