About the doctor


Dr. Jose Piriz is a New Jersey native who has made Claypool Hill his home since 1996. 

He attended Lehigh University as an undergraduate, then went on to medical school in the Catholic University of Santa Iago, in the Dominican Republic. His internship and residency were completed at Bronx--Lebanon Hospital in New York City/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he served as chief resident. He continued his Cardiology Fellowship at that institution. He capped his training with a specialty in Non-Invasive and Nuclear Cardiology at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut /University of Connecticut.

Once established with The Clinic and Clinch Valley Medical Center, he has been instrumental in amplifying cardiology services at both facilities, such as the Nuclear Cardiology Lab, Echocardiology Lab, and the Coumadin clinic.

He is an assistant clinical professor at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, and highly involved with the training of medical students. He has been very active in multiple hospital committees and has served as Chief of Staff. 

On the personal side, Dr. Piriz is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, and fishing. He is also a car and motorcycle enthusiast.
