Robotic-Assisted Joint Replacement
Clinch Valley Health is proud to offer innovative, safe and high-quality surgical care through robotic-assisted surgery. Robotic surgery, or robotic-assisted surgery – allows surgeons the ability to perform complex procedures with added precision, flexibility and control than with many conventional techniques.
Our robotically-trained surgeons perform minimally invasive surgical procedures in the following specialties:
- Orthopedics & joint replacement surgery
Benefits of robotic-assisted surgery may include:
- Less pain
- Shortened hospital stays
- Smaller incisions
- Quicker recovery times
- Fewer complications
As a result, patients may be able to get back to life faster without an extended recovery period.
While minimally invasive surgery effectively reduces recovery time and gives surgeons greater control, it may not be for everyone. Sometimes traditional open surgery provides surgeons better access to the area to be treated, and sometimes a patient's age, physical condition and surgical history may necessitate open surgery.

Robotic-Assisted Joint Replacement
Hip or Knee Pain?
Robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery is now available at Clinch Valley Health total knee replacements.
Benefits of robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery may include:
- Small incision
- Faster recover
- Optimal implant placement for more comfort
- Reduced impact to surrounding tissue
How does it work?
Using a 3D image, the surgeon can see and measure the actual dimensions of the patient’s joint and surrounding tissue. The surgeon then programs a surgical plan directly into the robotic technology, working through procedural adjustments, considerations and alterations in a virtual setting before any incision is made. During surgery, the surgeon guides the robotic-arm through this pre-defined program with full control to make adjustments, as needed.
