Clinch Valley Health Celebrates 85 Years

September 12, 2023

This year marks an important milestone for Clinch Valley Health and the communities it proudly serves. In 1938 the first Clinch Valley Clinic Hospital opened its doors in Richlands, Virginia. 40 years ago in 1983, the current hospital building opened. Clinch Valley Health is celebrating these two milestones with a ceremony and free community health fair on Tuesday, September 19th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the main entrance area and hospital lobby.

“We are celebrating 85 years of commitment to our community not only through providing nationally recognized care, but also through the many partnerships we have with community organizations that work closely with us to advance our mission of Making Communities Healthier,” said Peter Mulkey, CEO of Clinch Valley Health.  “As we celebrate this milestone, Clinch Valley Health wants to thank our medical staff, nurses and entire hospital staff for the high-quality, compassionate care that they give each and every day.”

A ceremony honoring past and present, medical staff, board member, employees, and volunteers, will begin at 4:00 p.m. outside of the main lobby directly in front of the hospital. The public is invited to attend. A free community health fair will take place in the main lobby until 7:00 p.m. Free health screenings including Hemoglobin A1C, prostate (PSA), vascular, bone density, blood pressure checks, height, weight, and body mass index will be offered.  There will also be an Ask a Doc panel, early heart attack care, automated breast ultrasound (ABUS), and genetic testing information, and a hands only CPR demonstration.
