Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner Sharon Monk is now accepting new patients.

Clinch Valley Health announced that board-certified family nurse practitioner Sharon Monk has joined Clinch Valley Health’s team and will be serving patients at Clinch Valley Physicians Associates. 

“We are very pleased to welcome Sharon to our obstetrics and gynecological care team,” said Clinch Valley Health CEO Peter Mulkey. “Our highest priority is providing excellent patient care and Sharon brings significant experience to the community.  We are excited to add the family nurse practitioner position to our OBGYN service line.”  

Building her nursing career for more than 15 years, Monk has been caring for the women, infants, and children of Southwest Virginia & Eastern Tennessee. Her passion for women’s health began in her teens when she first discovered her interest in medicine. Growing up in a rural area with limited specialized healthcare resources ignited a passion to serve and advocate for women’s health in the region where she was born and raised. 

Monk said, “I am passionate about preventative medicine and the use of evidence-based practice to foster the process of health promotion. Once a patient is aware of health promotion, they will be able to take control over their own health, the health of their family, and the health of their community.”  

Ultimately, Monk’s goal is to continue serving the women of her community with commitment to preventive measures that promote a healthy lifestyle across all stages of their reproductive health. She plans to continue to serve as a strong advocate for educating women and empowering them to make solidified healthcare decisions.  Monk specializes in obstetrics and gynecology, contraception, cervical and breast cancer screenings, menopause management, pregnancy, labor and delivery care, postpartum care and well woman services.
